Knowledge Base Search Tips

Targeting Your Search.

Using "quotes" around your search phrase can help narrow the results to exactly what you are interested in. A search for SQL Database without quotes will return all articles with either SQL or Database, in any order. A search for "SQL Database" in quotes returns all results with the exact phrase SQL Database, in that order.

Try your search first using only the Search on text field without any search criteria in the additional fields, then narrow it down.

This will produce more items, and once you see how the items are listed you can narrow your search results with additional search criteria or search words.

Search ALL or search by category?

For instance, If you're looking for only Web Tools articles related to Version 4.0, choose Web Tools from Search on product type drop-down list and 4.0 from the Search on product version drop-down list.

Use search operators.

if you are looking for troubleshooting articles related to Notifications, choose Troubleshooting from the Search on article type drop-down list and type notifications in the Search on text field.

Think of the one search word that best describes the item you are looking for and search for that.

Maybe it's a specific topic (such as templates or scanning). If you want articles related to templates, then type templates in the Search on text keyword string.

When using more than one search word, try using "OR".

When you use multiple search words, the search results are trying to find articles with ALL of the words in the search field. Try using OR. If you're interested in articles discussing scanning and articles discussing SQL, type scanning or SQL in the Search on text field.

Avoid punctuation marks unless required.

Don't use commas, periods, dashes, etc., unless required.
